Teodorovici Minister of EU Funds: Over three billion to
SMEs in the 2014-2020 programming period
Eugen Teodorovici, the Minister of EU
Funds, participated Today, 25 April, at the informal ministerial Meeting of
ministers responsible for cohesion policy, organized by the Greek Presidency in
Athens. The main topics of the meeting were preparations for the use of
European funds allocated to Member States for the period 2014-2020, with
emphasis on urban development, namely the SME business support.
"In the programming period
2014-2020, over three billion are allocated to support the work of SMEs, proposed
by the Partnership Agreement to the European Commission at the end of March. SME
projects will be financed by the Regional Operational Programme, the Competitiveness
Operational Programme, National Programme for Rural Development and Fisheries
Operational Programme. We have also provided several types of
activities that will support indirectly the activity of the companies in this
category. We pay special attention to supporting the SMEs activity while
the analysis shows that in Romania there are only 20 SMEs per thousand
inhabitants, number three times smaller than the average in the EU", said
Minister of EU Funds, Eugen Teodorovici in Athens.
Informal ministerial meeting was
organized to facilitate the meeting of all ministers responsible for cohesion
policy in the Member States, discussions focusing on areas targeting potential
growth, creating new jobs, actions for economic, social and territorial promoting,
according to the Strategy Europa 2020 to revitalize the European economy.
